What does the first 30 days of a breakup feel like?
Going through a breakup is never easy, but it can be especially difficult if you are at a time in life when many people are starting to settle down and build a life with their partner. Going through your breakup can feel like the rug has been pulled out from under you.
Your feelings about the end of your relationship can be all over the place:
Sadness
Anger
Confusion
Loneliness
Anxiety
Guilt
Shame
All of the above?
Let yourself to feel these emotions, even if they're uncomfortable. Trying to suppress them will only make them worse in the long run.
One of the best things you can do in the first 30 days after a breakup is to focus on yourself. Take some time to figure out and do things that make you happy and spend time doing things and being around people that make you feel good about yourself. This could include spending time with friends and family, exercising, getting involved in hobbies, or simply taking some time for yourself to relax and de-stress.
Please reach out for support during this time - you are not alone. Whether it's talking to friends and family, finding online groups, or seeking professional help do as much as you can to find your support. It can be amazing when you talk to someone and they share that they've been where you are and they can give you hope that you'll get to the other side.
Remember, you're not alone. Breakups are HARd but I promise these feeling won't last forever. Chins up!
